Who are the Nazarenes?

Jesus was called a Nazarene because his boyhood home was in the town of Nazareth. The followers of Jesus were called Nazarenes and the Apostle Paul, on trial for his life, was accused of being the ringleader of the sect of the Nazarene.  Of course, Jesus did not found any denomination, but because we bear His name it is held in deep respect by us who are members of the Church of the Nazarene. The supreme desire of all Christians should be to be like Jesus. His teachings form the basis of our doctrine, and His life, our example.

The Church of the Nazarene has spread the good news about Jesus for over a century, and we are known for seeking social justice for those in need, being a center of spiritual growth and transformation for countless communities, and being a place where those called to ministry can find training and support.  With over 28,000 congregations in 159 world areas, our vision and mission embraces the globe.  Crossroads is one of those congregations, and we invite you to learn more about what makes the Church of the Nazarene unique.
