Sam Montijo, Worship & Technology Pastor
Pastor Sam leads the music department and oversees sound, lighting, media and other technological areas. His passion is to lead people to a closer relationship to God through the ministry of worship. Sam has been happily married to his wife Ruth for 18 years and has three wonderful children, Jasmine, Jonathan, and Ashley. In his off time, he enjoys playing basketball, watching the latest super-hero movie, or just hanging out with his family. His life’s motto is, “Live. Laugh. Love.” He has a genuine heart to see the lost saved through the restoring power of Jesus Christ. He believes that we show God’s love through building lasting relationships and empowering people to use their gifts for God’s glory. Sam joined the Crossroads staff in June of 2014.
Jesse Happel, Youth Pastor
Pastor Jesse is a 1998 graduate of Liberty University, and the Pastor of Young Adults at Crossroads. He has been in full time Christian ministry for 15 years, including the past 6 as a pastor. He has a passion for helping students go deeper in their personal walks with God during the times of adolescence. Jesse’s wife Kiley is heavily involved in serving in the youth ministry as well. The Happels adore their two children, Declan and Adelyn, who also love Jesus with all of their hearts, and enjoy making the students laugh.
Richard Brash, Pastor of Community Engagement
Pastor Richard joined the Crossroads staff in November 2015. He and his wife Karen have attended and served at Crossroads since August 2004. Richard’s quiver is full with 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and one on the way in December 2015. Richard worked in the corporate world until he started his consulting business in August 2012. The transition into ministry started in earnest when Richard answered the call to get ready in April 2014. Last May, Richard and his family went to Curaçao to begin a new work of the Church of the Nazarene on that Island. Richard’s role at Crossroads is to help mobilize the church community to engage the community outside the church. By being the hands and feet of Christ, the church will become a parable of Jesus in our community and the world.
Doreen Armstrong, Office Administrator
Doreen joined the Crossroads Staff in 2017. She has served at Crossroads for over 15 years in various capacities (Women’s Ministry leader, Small Group leader, Church Board member, Children’s ministry volunteer, Mentor, Music Ministry). Doreen has over 25 years of corporate experience in Accounting and Commercial Insurance. Her passion is to see women reading and studying the Bible and growing in their personal relationship with Jesus. Doreen is married to Steve and has one son, Kyle (24). In her spare time, Doreen enjoys reading and playing the cello.
Chris Beck, Children's Ministry Assistant
Chris joined the Crossroads staff in June 2015. Her start in children’s ministry began as a teen in the United Brethren Church, where her father was a pastor. Chris began her volunteer ministry at Crossroads with VBS in 2003, and has served in various roles throughout the church since. Chris also works for HCPSS as a substitute teacher and as a Para Educator in Special Education. Her husband, Jake, is her biggest supporter and encourager in life. Together they have the pleasure of raising two fun-loving girls, Sydney (15) and Avery (12). During her down time, Chris enjoys reading, decorating, cheering on her girls at sporting events, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Norman Huffman, Executive Pastor
Pastor Norm was born the oldest of 5 siblings in Fairbanks, Alaska and later moved to Vancouver, Washington. In 2005, Norm married Lorene who is from Oceanside, California and is active duty in the United States Air Force. Together they have been stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii and Monterey, California. They have 1 daughter (Madelyn, 5) and a son (Thomas, 3). Norman attended George Fox University where he received his M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy, and Lubbock Christian University where he completed his M.A. in Ministry. Norman is a Licensed Clinical Therapist and Professional Counselor. He has lived in Maryland since June 2013, and came on staff with Crossroads in April 2014.
Lynn Brooks, Children's Pastor
A southern girl from Kentucky, Lynn Brooks joined the Crossroads staff in May of 2017. She, along with Jay, her husband and best friend, oversee Children's and Family Ministries. These high school sweethearts hit the ground running in building their own family, and have over 25 years of marriage and ministry experience as church planters, worship leaders, youth and children's leaders. Lovers of kids, it's no surprise they have a tribe of their own; Lauren, Aaron, Rebekah, Alex, and Ella, a son-in-love-Michael, and a grandbaby named Cody, who has recently hijacked their hearts. In their spare time, Lynn and Jay can be found hacking (knocking down) walls, ripping out old flooring, and experiencing the other endless joys of renovating to their home in the Catonsville area. Like their house, their lives have been a fixer upper story from the start, which is why they are passionate about seeing the hearts and lives of other families reclaimed, restored, and released into their unique Kingdom purpose.
Amanda Ganger, Administrative Assistant
Amanda has a degree in social work from UMBC where she met her husband Sam, and together they have the joy of raising the cutest kids on the planet, Kaedin & Violet. Amanda grew up at Crossroads and keeps our office running smoothly by assisting all the pastors in a variety of tasks. When she isn't at her desk or changing diapers, she is home cooking up delicious dinners.
Mason Wingate, Food Service Manager
Mason Wingate currently serves as Crossroads’ Food Services Manager. He remembers as a little boy in the kitchen watching his mother prepare delicious meals for her family. He then developed a passion for cooking himself and helped his mother whenever he was needed. With over 30 years of experience in the culinary field, Mason has been able to work with some of the world’s finest chefs. In 2013, he received his certification as a ServSafe Manager, from the Restaurant Association of Maryland. He enjoys catering and sees it as an important ministry in the church. He also loves preparing various dishes for his wife Rita. Mason continues to serve God’s people, with both natural and spiritual food.
