Crossroads belongs to the Nazarene denomination. The Church of the Nazarene is the largest denomination in the classical Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. The doctrine that distinguishes the Church of the Nazarene and other Wesleyan denominations from most other Christian denominations is that of entire sanctification. Nazarenes believe that God calls Christians to a life of holy living that is marked by an act of God, cleansing the heart from original sin and filling the individual with love for God and humankind.

WE ARE A CHRISTIAN PEOPLE

We are united with all believers in proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We believe that in divine love God offers to all people forgiveness of sins and restored relationship. In being reconciled to God, we believe that we are also to be reconciled to one another, loving each other as we have been loved by God and forgiving each other as we have been forgiven by God.

WE ARE A HOLINESS PEOPLE

God, who is Holy, calls us to a life of Holiness. We believe that the Holy Spirit seeks to do in us a second work of grace, called entire sanctification, cleansing us from all sin, renewing us in the image of God, empowering us to love God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength, and our neighbors as ourselves, and producing in us the character of Christ. Holiness in the life of believers is most clearly understood as Christlikeness.

WE ARE A MISSIONAL PEOPLE

As a sent people, we respond to the call of Christ and live empowered by the Holy Spirit to "go into all the world" witnessing to the Lordship of Christ. Our mission begins in worship, encourages believers toward Christian maturity through discipleship, and ministers to our world through compassion and evangelism.

WHO GOD IS TO US

The Church of the Nazarene holds these beliefs to be true; they are common to churches world-wide:

  • We believe in one God-the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

  • We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race.

  • We believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.

  • We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.

BAPTISM

We believe that baptism is an outward act representing an inward change; it symbolizes death to the old way of life and being raised in a new life with Christ. We hold baptisms periodically throughout the year. If you are interested in being baptized or have more questions, please reach out to Pastor Tim Brooks to chat!
